I have been documenting the breath-taking Lowcountry in my murals and paintings since 2001, completing several large-scale murals. Though not a part of my "Sailing Among the Clouds" series, I feel painting this beautiful lowcountry is in a sense a very surrealistic experience. Please contact me if you are interested in a quote.

Hilton Head Elementary School for the Creative Arts
(Note: these are photographs taped together then scanned, sorry for the poor quality. You're invited to visit the school for a tour.)
In 2002, I donated my creative talents to the Hilton Head Elementary School
for the Creative Arts, painting a 2,000 square foot mural in the cafeteria.
This endeavor was completed in 6 months working weekday evenings, each
Friday and on weekends. The mural is comprised of three walls measuring
6' high by 60' long. The stage wall includes two areas measuring 15'x 20' wide
while the exit area measures another two 6'x 20' walls. The paint and
scaffolding was graciously donated by Lowe's.

Each Friday, I would paint during the school lunchtime as the children were
eating. We would often engage in conversation as I demonstrated my painting
technique and ideas with them. They were very drawn into the work as they
would offer suggestions topics and items as to include in the mural.

I painted each weekend, I would often incorporate their suggestions and hide
small animals throughout the mural. I was told later by several of the faculty
that as each Monday arrived, the children would rush into the cafeteria to
look for their contributions to the mural. On the following Friday I would
ask them if they had found all the "hidden" surprises.

Hilton Head International Baccalaureate Elementary School
Throughout the past 7 years I have donated several murals to various
classrooms in this school, the children, staff and administrators are very
appreciative.

This year I painted a 4'x40' mural in the new "Boy's Single-Gender Classroom"
using Olympic symbols to show achievement. I also added a 4'x40' lowcountry
marsh scene to a fifth grade classroom to soften up a harsh area above the
cupboards and create a calming atmosphere by incorporating colors from the
surrounding walls.

The creation of a 12' high by 20' wide "Reading Tree" was added to a
classroom creating a fun an enjoyable place for the students to read.

Daufuskie Island Resort
In 2004, I filled three walls of the Daufuskie Island Resort and Breathe Spa's
retail store on Hilton Head Island with 7'x12' murals. The back wall of the
shop contained a detailed map of Daufuskie Island showing landmarks and
roads. This map aided visitors to locate places of interest before embarking on
their ferry ride. It pointed out where they would be docking, the road they
would be traveling to the Resort, golf courses and the island's historical
buildings and points of interest.
The two side walls showed scenes along the Calibogue Sound with dolphins,
birds and flora they would soon be seeing on their boat voyage. I also painted
several murals (not shown) in the employee break rooms on both Hilton Head
and Daufuskie Islands.
